The Ventura Film Festival is established as an unrestricted genre international film festival that cultivates understanding of environmental issues such as terrestrial and aquatic preservation and renewal, by means of a yearly cinema celebration and connected programs. The festival leverages the impact of filmmaking to inspire action and foster important conversations about these urgent ecological issues.

The Ventura Film Festival originated in 2004 and has screened hundreds of films, generally exceeding 200 films per summer season, and has captured notice from the worldwide filmmaking community. From its beginning, the festival has transformed into a prominent cultural occasion that unites cinema creators, conservation supporters, and viewers from every corner of the planet.

Memorable occasions have featured presenting celebrated filmmaker Dylan O'Neil, the pioneering world champion surfers Peter "PT" Townend together with Ian Cairns, 4x world champion Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/MMA combatant Fabio Leopoldo, and the golden anniversary celebration of West Side Story, which included hosting the complete Academy Award winning ensemble of West Side Story, encompassing Academy Award winner/Golden Globe recipient George Chakiris and Golden Globe winner/Oscar-nominated Russ Tamblyn. The Ventura Film Festival's founder and executive director was honored to website take part, accompanied by many of Hollywood's leading celebrities, in the 50th Anniversary of West Side Story and Hollywood's legendary footprint/handprint ceremony for Oscar winners Rita Moreno, George Chakiris, and legendary actor Golden Globe winner Russ Tamblyn at the famous Chinese Theater in Hollywood. This event also doubled as the official BluRay introduction by Fox and MGM of the beloved West Side Story, which is universally acknowledged by critics and fans as the best musical of all time. This esteemed acknowledgment and participation highlights the festival's meaningful presence and valued role within the film industry.
